PKOUG is a national community, but many of its strongest connections are local. Chapters give members in a city a recognisable place to organise, volunteer, learn, and build relationships around shared technology interests.
What a chapter is
A chapter is a published local PKOUG community with its own city identity, accepted leaders and volunteers, contact route, and record of webinars or events. It is not simply a city name in a dropdown. A chapter appears publicly when there is enough confirmed information and responsibility to represent it accurately.

The Chapters page shows the local communities PKOUG has announced. Each chapter page can explain its purpose, introduce accepted organisers, provide a contact route, and group its upcoming and past sessions.
Draft or archived chapters are not presented as active public communities. That avoids promising local activity before it is ready and keeps the directory of chapters trustworthy.
How to use a chapter page
- Open the national chapter listing and choose a city.
- Read the chapter summary and description to understand its local focus.
- Review the listed leaders and volunteers. Only accepted public roles are shown.
- Use the session tabs to explore upcoming webinars, upcoming events, and past activity.
- Use the published chapter contact option when you have a relevant local question or want to help.
Ways members can contribute
- Offer a practical technical talk or case study.
- Help with venue, check-in, communication, or session moderation.
- Suggest a topic that local practitioners need.
- Welcome new attendees and connect them with other members.
- Volunteer for a chapter role when organisers are looking for help.
Chapter roles are explicit
Leadership and volunteer invitations have their own acceptance state. A person should not appear publicly as a chapter officer simply because someone suggested their name. This protects members from unwanted attribution and gives visitors an accurate view of who is actively responsible.
