Your PKOUG profile is the professional identity you maintain inside the community. The member portal lets you keep that identity accurate without giving profile editing power over protected membership decisions.
Purpose of the profile editor
People change roles, employers, cities, biographies, and technical interests. The profile editor exists so members can update those details directly instead of asking an administrator to make routine changes. It also gives members control over whether their approved profile is shown in the public directory.
How to update your profile
- Open Member Sign In and log in with your PKOUG credentials.
- Choose Your profile from the portal navigation.
- Review your name, professional role, employer, city, biography, experience, and technical skills.
- Replace your photograph if the current image is outdated.
- Review the privacy choices that control directory visibility and contact detail exposure.
- Save the profile and confirm the success message before leaving the page.
What you control
The editor focuses on information that belongs to you: professional presentation, skills, contact fields that are permitted to change, photograph, and privacy preferences. Hiding your profile removes it from the public directory while keeping your membership account available to you.
What the editor does not control
Plan, billing status, membership expiry, approval, email verification, payment evidence, and account state are not ordinary profile fields. They are intentionally absent from the editor. Keeping these states separate prevents an accidental profile change from altering financial or administrative records.
Your login email also has identity consequences, so it is not treated as just another public profile field. If it needs to change, contact the PKOUG team through the address shown in the portal.
Write a profile people can use
- Use a specific job title rather than an internal abbreviation.
- Describe the systems, responsibilities, or community topics you know best.
- Keep your skills focused and current so directory searches remain meaningful.
- Choose privacy settings intentionally; do not publish contact information you do not want shared.
- Revisit your profile after a role change, certification, major project, or move.
